    Southwest State leader arrives in Mogadishu ahead of FGS-FMS summit

    The leader of Southwest state, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Lafta-garen has today arrived in Somali capital, Mogadishu ahead of FGS-FGS talks resumption.

    Lafta-garen who returned the country from Turkey will be joining other regional state leaders in Mogadishu.

    According to sources close to Lafta-garen, the leader will meet with president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in the forthcoming hours.

    The arrival of Lafta-garen comes a day after president Farmajo called for new round of talks between Somali federal government and the regional states.

    According to Villa Somalia, the two-day conference will finalize the recommendations agreed upon by the Technical Committee in Baidoa on 15-16 February 2021.

    President Mohamed Farmaajo has been at loggerheads with the opposition and a section of Federal Member State leaders over the modalities of the long overdue presidential and parliamentary elections.

    A consultative forum announced by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to take place on 4th of this failed after leaders of Puntland and Jubbland state did turn up.

    Somalia was supposed to hold presidential elections late last year but differences between the leaders of the federal and regional governments.
